Box Office Report: 'New Year's Eve' Ringing in the Holiday Early

Chris Hyde/Getty Images In the old days, superstar recording artists used to get together and warble for causes like humanitarian aid to Africa, world hunger and AIDS. Now a bunch of musicians and other celebrities are singing an ode to a popular file storage site that has often gotten under the skin of the movie and record industries.our editor recommends54th Annual Grammy Nominees: Kanye West, Adele, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Katy PerryTweeting With the Devil: How the Grammys Launched a Misinformation Campaign in 140 Characters (Opinion)Kim Kardashian Attends THR's Women in Entertainment BreakfastFoo Fighters' Six Grammy Nominations Put Analog Recording Back on the Map Move over Band Aid and USA for Africa. It's time for the "Megaupload Mega Song," from Will.i.am, P Diddy, Kim Kardashian, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Lil John, Jamie Foxx, Mary J Blige, Floyd Mayweather, The Game and more. Over a simple electro-beat, the various stars sing how much they love the service. Torrent Freak says the music video is a "stunning PR coup" for Megaupload, which has been attacked by the MPAA and RIAA. And on Friday the video was taken down from YouTube, a move that TechDirt says might be due to a copyright infringement claim from Universal Music Group. PHOTOS: 54th Annual Grammy Nominees The servicehas reportedly garnered Kanye West's support because it's "the fastest and safest way to send files," gotten Keys on board because it proves she's serious about music, and earned Snoop's endorsement because "it keeps the kids off the street." The Game adds that even his lawyers know he uses it, noting "...and I got plenty of them." Megaupload is based in Hong Kong and is run by a guy named Kim Dotcom (bornKim Schmitz). The company has only been sued one time in the United States for copyright infringement. In January, adult entertainment company Perfect 10 accused the company of encouraging users to upload its copyrighted material on the service. VIDEOS: The Best (and Worst) Moments of AMAs 2011 Many industry folks probably figured it would be tough to litigate against a company that operates outside U.S. jurisdiction and is cloaked in mystery, but Megaupload surprised Hollywood by responding to the lawsuit. In July, a federal judge turned down Megaupload's motion to dismiss the suit, finding: "Megaupload serves as more than a passive conduit and more than a mere 'file storage' company: It has created distinct Web sites presumably in an effort to streamline users' access to different types of media. It encourages and in some cases pays its users to upload vast amounts of popular media through its rewards programs. It disseminates URLS for various files throughout the Internet. It provides payouts to affiliate websites who maintain a catalogue of all available files and last at a minimum, it is plausibly aware of the ongoing rampant infringement taking place on its Web sites." In September, however, Megaupload settled the lawsuit with Perfect 10. Terms of the agreement haven't been revealed, but the parties submitted a motion so that the judge's July decision would be vacated. PHOTOS: 20 Best and Worst Music to Movie Crossovers The content industry has continued to attack Kim and the storage locker. Two weeks ago, Creative America, a coalition of major studios, networks, labor unions, and others, released an anti-piracy advertisement that includes among its targets "the infamous founder of Megaupload," alleging he makes up to $300 million in profits off of piracy. The creators of"Megaupload Mega Song" are now rallying support of Megaupload. Besides the video below, there's also a club remix of the song in circulation. MEGA UPLOAD SONG!!!! 'Nate Berkus' to exit in May

"The Nate Berkus Show" will not return after its second season ends in May, Harpo Studios and Sony Pictures TV have announced. "After careful consideration, we have decided that 'The Nate Berkus Show' will not return for a third season in the fall," the companies said in a statement. "We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we're very proud of what they've delivered." The show remains in production and will continue with original episodes through the end of its current campaign in May. However, in contrast to Sony Pictures TV's "Dr. Oz," another talker with Oprah Winfrey's imprimatur that averages 3.7 million viewers, "Berkus" did not generate the audience to justify the expense of continuing beyond this season. The "Berkus" news was first reported by Broadcasting & Cable. "I'm incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day," Berkus said. Sony Pictures TV isn't launching any new syndie talkers in 2012, but is partnering with Will Smith shingle Overbrook Entertainment to produce a Queen Latifah-hosted talkshow for 2013. Flavor Unit Entertainment, topped by Latifah and Shakim Compere will also produce. Contact Jon Weisman at jon.weisman@variety.com

Newly Minted Star Jessica Chastain Breaks Through

Newly Minted Star Jessica Chastain Breaks Through By Jenelle Riley December 8, 2011 Photo by Francois Guillot/AFP/Getty Images Jessica Chastain is the first to admit she has had a pretty amazing year. The Juilliard graduate had already made a name for herself onstage, playing opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Othello" and Al Pacino in "Salome." In fact, her first film role was "Wilde Salome," a part documentary, part staging of the play in which the sultry redhead embodies the title role. (The film is seeking distribution.) Following that, she shot the little-seen indie "Jolene," which was released last year. But in 2011, Chastain was everywhere. First there was her sublime turn in Terrence Malick's oft-delayed "The Tree of Life," playing the ethereal wife of Brad Pitt's character. Then she stole scenes as naive new bride Celia Foote in the big-screen adaptation of "The Help." If you were lucky, you caught her turn as the patient wife of a man having nightmarish visions of the future in "Take Shelter." Or maybe you saw her work as a Mossad agent in "The Debt," or searching for justice in "Texas Killing Fields," both with Sam Worthington. Currently she can be seen onscreen as the wife of Ralph Fiennes' banished general in "Coriolanus.""How is this my life?" Chastain asks with a laugh when talking about the last few months. "Professionally, it will never be this good. It's been a year where I took two films to Sundance; they both won the top prizes in their categories. I had the number one and number two movies at the box office in one week. I was in a film that won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. I would be so lucky for one of these things to happen to me. I don't think I could take anymore." Back Stage: You had done two unreleased films before landing the coveted role in "The Tree of Life." What was the process like? Jessica Chastain: My agent talked to me about the film, and I had an audition. It was like an open casting call in a way. It was at Francine Maisler's office. It was typical, a lot of girls waiting in the hallway to go in. I did the things they asked me to, a lot of behavior stuff: Put a baby to sleep, look at someone with love and respect, and I said a couple lines from a Eugene O'Neill play. The next day I heard Terrence Malick wanted to meet me.Back Stage: That behavioral stuff, is that unusual for an audition? Chastain: It's very unusual for a film audition. Normally for a film audition, you have your sides, and you're reading with someone on the other side of the camera. What was so beautiful about this audition was it was more about being than putting something on. I read the description of the character, and I knew who she was, but I think he just wanted to see how we were, how comfortable we were in front of the camera. Sometimes as an actor, you feel, "I have to do something; I have to make this interesting!" And the great thing about Terrence Malick is, it's not about doing anything. Yes, you're playing these people and it has to be absolutely real. But the most important thing is you're just being there. You're being honest about where the character is, and you're not being showy. I think that audition was just focusing on the breadth and the space of what that is.Back Stage: Was it intimidating meeting Malick for the first time? Chastain: I was really scared before I met him. I was and am a huge fan of his work, and there's this legend, a folklore, about him being this quiet, cloistered-off-from-society man. And to be honest, it couldn't be further from the truth. He was the nicest man. I met him for lunch, and his wife, Alex, showed up, and we just talked about our lives. He shared as much as he asked of me about himself. And he said to me, "I've got some pages I'd love for you to look at when you get back to L.A. And when you're comfortable, maybe you could put them on tape and send it to me." And I think because I was there and had made the trip, I said, "If you want, I'm okay working now. You can hand me the pages and we can just work." And I'm really glad I did that, because then we went back to the office and just played a bit, which is the spirit of a Terrence Malick film. It's never about hitting a mark; it's all about being in the moment and finding new surprises.Back Stage: When did you learn you had booked the role? Chastain: It took a while. The movie wasn't financed yet, and I was a complete unknown. He was always very sweet. He came to L.A. a month after that first meeting, and I did another audition, and he was always making sure I knew that hopefully it was leading somewhere. You never know as an actor. You don't know if someone with a big name is going to sweep in and all of a sudden I'm yesterday's news. He's a very loyal person. You know, I was originally cast opposite Heath Ledger, and we all rehearsed together in Texas. When Heath fell out and it was going to be Brad Pitt, I really thought, "Okay, I'm going to get fired," because Brad and I aren't the same age, and I don't know if it had always been Brad if I would have been cast originally. But Terrence Malick just isn't that kind of person. It was one of my favorite experiences I've ever had, making "Tree of Life." I just feel like it's more than a film to me. It changed my personal life and my professional life; it's this golden moment. When you're striving to play this embodiment of grace and compassion, kind of like this martyr and figure for all spirituality, it can't help but change who you are. Back Stage: Did you base her on anyone? Chastain: I started actually big. When I first read the script, Brad's character represents nature and survival of the fittest. She represents grace and the spirit world and unending love. I started as big as I could, so I studied paintings like Raphael's "Madonna." I would sit there and stare at these women, how they would hold their hands, how their eyes would be somewhat downcast. They never had a direct, aggressive gaze. And I watched a lot of Lauren Bacall films to soak up her voice, because she had this way of speaking that was so slow, there was nothing modern about it. Then I did a lot of reading about spirituality, and I read a lot about Mother Teresa. She was the first person I started reading. Terry suggested her to me, and when I did, I was really floored by what an amazing woman she is. From there, I had to ground her in what makes her humanher love for her boys. Her whole life is for them. Back Stage: You play a very different kind of wife in "Take Shelter." She supports her husband as much as she can, even when he's behaving crazy. Chastain: That was really important to me. I said to [writer-director] Jeff Nichols, "I don't want to be the nagging wife." Every scene could be "What's wrong with you; why are you acting like this?" If it's just like that, it's got to mean something. We have to show what he has to lose. This family, they love each other. But she can't be a pushover. She's not the mother from "Tree of Life" she's not this woman full of grace, willing to sacrifice herself for others. She's the mama bear; she's the grizzly that takes care of her cub. And when he does something that directly affects her daughter, she lashes out and attacks him. I loved that I had the opportunity to play this woman who had this deep sensitive love for her husband but was at the same time allowed to be really strong and was the head of the household.Back Stage: You also play a wife in "The Help," although your real scene partner is Octavia Spencer, who plays Celia's maid, Minny. Chastain: You don't always have that chemistry between people, and usually it's between men and women when they talk about it, and they mean it in an intimate way. But I thought our chemistry was so good. For comedy, for the more touching, emotional scenes. There's so much in the book that's so great between Minny and Celia, like Minny thinking Celia is an alcoholic. And when Celia saves Minny from a naked man and she says it's the first time a white woman has ever done anything for her. So I really felt like, "Octavia, we need to make our own movie!" Back Stage: Several of your films are generating awards buzz. Did you always know you had chosen projects that would be so successful, or is part of it luck? Chastain: When I make a film, I don't think about the end result of what will happen with the film. I don't think about if it will be successful or good for my career or if it will propel me somewhere else. I always try to choose movies that will be a great experience making it, because that's the only thing I have control over. I don't even have control over my performance, because there's an editor and a director. So I ask myself: What films can I do where I learn something and I leave the production better than when I came?Outtakes Will next be seen in "Mama" and "Wettest Country" also filmed a small role in Terrence Malick's latest, untitled filmWhile at Juilliard, she was approached by producer John Wells for a holding contract but opted to finish school instead. For her roles in "Take Shelter," "Tree of Life," and "The Help," Chastain was named best supporting actress by the NY Film Critics Circle; she earned a Spirit Award nomination for best supporting actress for "Take Shelter." The Way In Which I Met Your Mother Boss: You Will Discover More Twists and Turns for Robin

Cobie Smulders Be informed, The Way In Which I Met Your Mother fans: You might like to involve some Kleenex nearby for Monday's episode. "In my opinion it's fair to convey the episode is different from anybody had imagined entering it," co-creator/co-executive producer Craig Thomas notifies TVGuide.com. "It's among people where when we're shooting it and editing it that you just see people tearing up. It's very funny, but it's very emotional too. The conclusion in the episode seems like it's made lots of people cry, but it's a great cry." The episode builds up moments after Robin (Cobie Smulders) told Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) that she's pregnant that is chock-full of more surprises, Thomas states -including, since the logline teases, some "not too good newsInch for Robin. What could that be? Read onto see Thomas' hints relevant for this thought, why he and Carter Bays written being pregnant, and what's next for your relaxation of the year. The Way In Which I Met Your Mother's Kal Penn: Robin and Kevin certainly are a fun matchWhen and the way perhaps you have decide Robin could possibly get pregnant?Craig Thomas: We understood entering the summer season that individuals wanted Robin and Barney relapsing. ... Which we preferred to understand more about how it is like for Robin - this lady who swore she never, ever wanted kids - when she's confronted with the potential for getting children. The next episode builds up literally right in those days that Episode 11 ended with. We view Barney's a reaction to what is the news. Plenty of unforeseen unpredicted unexpected things happen within it. People responses with this news aren't what you consider it may be. There's an excellent forward momentum. This is our midway point - our twelfth episode - plus it spins to the relaxation of the year.So everyone else finds out?Thomas: I'd rather not ruin that, nevertheless the whole episode is about Robin's practice of keeping things canned up inside. Robin's not touchy-feely. She smokes cigars, she drinks scotch, she visits the gun range, she was elevated just like a boy. She, in several ways, can be a more rugged dude than Ted (Josh Radnor). ... We really remain in preserving that part of her of not talking about her feelings and news generally. Everyone knows Robin can get not so great. Works this have associated with the newborn?Johnson: Well, all I am able to need to have to say is she'll understand this huge little bit of news and you'll find more details inside the episode that are certainly items that she may decide to discuss getting a buddy, but she cannot quite bring herself to. The episode becomes an look for Robin just like a character and what continues if you keep stuff inside instead of telling your pals. In my opinion Cobie Smulders warrants an Emmy with this particular episode. She's really, really fantastic within it.Simply because she's never wanted kids, will she wrestle with if you should keep the baby?Thomas: No, we don't visit that place. It's really her wrapping her mind around what she thought her future might be. I'm considering what people will think after this episode airs. We now have always attempted to become show about these figures that are essentially straddling between childhood and the adult years. ... This certainly hits our primary theme of those on your way to the adult years. This is often a large crossroads for Robin. Furthermore, you will find the paternity question, which we all know Kevin (Kal Penn) is sticking around.Thomas: Yes, Kevin will probably be sticking around. The paternity is addressed inside the opening scene. You will discover more twists and turns for Robin, but which get settled quickly. Barney will be the only person Robin's told and he or she wrestles with should you tell everyone else. ... There's this kind of deep outcomes of then. Because of this we keep coming back on their behalf. ... We debated a good deal inside the writers' room [about whether Robin should dump Kevin for Barney]. But ultimately, if Robin had hopped to Barney because episode, on her behalf, it could have been rapport built around the crime. It absolutely was this kind of mistake [sleeping with Barney] and he or she felt so terrible relating to this. Kevin can be a enjoyable guy that, In my opinion because episode no less than, Barney represented the greater negative side and Kevin represented this hopeful, lighter side. [Spoiler Alert: The paternity is revealed inside the clip below. Watch in the own risk.] Becki Newton suits up depending on how I Met Your MotherBarney's experienced a good deal yesteryear day or two. How could he process all of this? Is how Becki Newton will come in?Jones: That's exactly what the first part of the partner of the year will probably be about. He's trying to handle this huge information she's between him and Robin and the way he progresses out of this. We'll meet Becki's character a little later. She's a significant love interest for Barney and she'll be around for a while. ... It'll be not the same as his relationship with Nora (Nazanin Boniadi). Nora was this kind of sweet, being careful of, wonderful character. Becki's character will most likely be considered a spitfire, somebody that can it to Barney by leaving him left without words. It's a little Frasier Crane and Lilith Sternin - a few who've met their match. He or she must lock horns with somebody to acquire his mind off what's happening. Are we able to see Nora again?Thomas: I'd rather not say one way or perhaps the other. We are similar to a b --grade horror movie somewhat: Nobody ever dies. Marshall's father has came out more since dying on our show than he did when he was alive! [Laughs] Episode 13 begins with Marshall (Jason Segel) exactly yearly later at his dad's grave and creating ground along with his father, which we get moving with Bill Fagerbakke again in flashbacks. His workload has bending since dying! Not usually situation if you die. But fortunately we could make that really work inside our show. But Chris Elliott will probably be back. Are Mickey and Lily (Alyson Hannigan) round the mend? They were never totally estranged.Thomas: He'll maintain Episodes 13 and 14. Yeah, they aren't completely estranged, but Lily has every one of these conflicting problems with her father, who's a fascinating, awesome guy, but was not ever really there on her behalf maturing. This person will most likely be the sole real grandfather for baby and there's apt to be top quality stuff from Lily's past. In my opinion this can be a very real factor. If you approach getting kids or you possess a kid, you realize without warning you've this new, enhanced relationship along with your parents and you also realize your individual problems with your mother and father appear. We will probably see Lily undergo by utilizing Mickey.I guess he'll receive new games.Thomas: You will notice more games! [Laughs] ... We will probably imply Mickey can get a game title reality that really becomes half way decent effective for him, the first! We might go to a look in a completely new game commercial Mickey makes, like the one for your Slap Wager game. Watch full instances of how I Met Your MotherWhat's coming for Ted? In my opinion this can be a lengthy he's been single.Thomas: It's nice getting Ted be single. ... Ted will stay with that search. We will probably address what Victoria (Ashley Williams) mentioned in Episode 3 - "Living and investing time together with your most serious ex-girlfriend may be further further complicating your quest legitimate love.Inch In the event you remember, Future Ted read they switched to become right. We'll go back to that conjecture in Episodes 13 through 18. We'll address the fact Ted has spent yesteryear couple of years dealing with the woman he thought would be the adoration for his existence and being pals along with her. It will help help remind us how important Robin is at his existence. The means by that they started this complete story was: "I met a lady inside a bar." Plus it was Robin. She's very essential in the existence also to the series. In several ways, I view this season just like a Robin season. We will probably remember just like a series how important she's which there's grounds he's telling this story. There's good quality, juicy drama approaching between Ted, Robin and Barney. Are we able to convey more clues in regards to the mother outdoors of Barney's future wedding?Thomas: We'll get some good on that future large day. In my opinion I'll allow it to relaxation only at that. [Laughs] One of the finest questions might be the fans talking about whether we'll introduce mother inside the series or delay until the conclusion. I am unable to answer that. But we'll go back to that future wedding and we'll learn who Barney gets married to among another things. Perform leave some not-clarified questions, but that won't be one.The Way In Which I Met Your Mother airs Mondays at 8/7c on CBS.

Typically The Most Popular TV Origin Tales

Michael C. Hall , Tom Welling On Sunday, Syfy will fly audiences to Neverland getting a 2-evening miniseries that explores how Peter Pan (Charlie Rowe), Captain Hook (Rhys Ifans), and Neverland itself found be. Hollywood's never been afraid to see an excellent origin story - for better (Batman Begins, X-Males Top Quality) or worse (the three Alien prequels, Hannibal Rising) - as well as the trend is simply as popular round the small screen. Behold, many of our favorite TV origin tales:1. Clark Kent, SmallvilleAt 10 seasons extended, this series about Superman's upbringing among humans might well be a lengthy origin story ever. Undertaking a strict "no tights, no travel arrangementsInch rule, the series began as visit a greater school-aged Clark Kent who struggles to be ready for his alien roots and superhuman abilities in Smallville, Kansas. Throughout the time from the show, items of the Superman mythology fell into position: Clark visited focus on The Daily Planet, other Electricity Comics heroes and villains take their hands up, and Clark (finally!) ended up with Lois Lane. And, yes, within the series' finish, Clark eventually donned the Super-suit and needed his first official flight since the Guy of Steel.2. Dexter Morgan, DexterAlthough it absolutely was revealed a lot more like an over-all mythology, Dexter Morgan's bloody backstory is essential to understanding his serial-killing ways. Orphaned at 3 after his mother's murder, Dexter is discovered in the pool of blood stream by officer and eventual adoptive father Harry Morgan. Recognizing Dexter's penchant for killing neighborhood pets, Harry reined in Dexter's "Dark Passenger" by teaching him "The Code." The short version: Killing rocks !, as extended since the body's accountable for his personal serious crimes. That's most likely not the most effective being a parent, but it's provided us several seasons of tasty drama. So thanks, Harry! 3. Gustavo Fring, Breaking BadIn Season 4's "Hermanos," we finally uncover why Gus is actually darned hostile toward the cartel: They destroyed hispartner (lover?)Max. In the tense, taut, all-in-The the spanish language language flashback to eighties Mexico, we learn that Gus and Max began cooking meth silently to be able to partner tabs on the cartel. However, if Don Eladio doesn't accept their undercover shenanigans and also, since Gus is in some manner "connected" in Chile, Max can get shot inside the mind and Gus needs to check out his partner bleed to dying. His Chilean connection elected for him for the grave, but no less than everyone knows how Gus increased being most likely probably the most callous meth kingpin/chicken guy in the Southwest.4. Mr. Eko, LostOn a show where everybody stood a crazy backstory, Mr. Eko's was one of the most interesting. Numerous flashbacks states a young Eko destroyed a man to guard his brother Yemi within the same fate each time a gang of guerrillas terrorize his Nigerian village. The gang recruits Eko, who returns home years later just like a courageous drug master to request pressure Yemi, which has since be considered a priest, to help him smuggle heroin in Virgin Mary statues. Through the operation, Yemi is shot since the plane will require off and Eko, who's fitted just like a priest, is mistaken for his brother. He is constantly function as village priest from guilt. No real surprise the guy doesn't talk much!5. Noah "HRG" Bennett, HeroesLate within the first season, Heroes abandoned its multi-story format to give consideration to simply one character: Noah "HRG" Bennett. Because they and also the family are held hostage at their Texas home, the show flashes-to HRG's recruitment by Primatech, his adoption of Claire, and also the (presumed) murder of his former partner Claude. Despite the fact that episode increased that HRG was at ease with the morally gray areas, it mostly shown what measures HRG visits safeguard his "Claire Bear," whose forces he'd saved secret in the organization from fear they'd take her away. Out of the blue, all his evil functions didn't appear so evil - specially when he sacrificed themselves to make sure that Claire could escape.6. Olivia Dunham, FringeAlthough Fringe's first season states Olivia was once among the 30 children Walter and William Bell familiar with test the drug Cortexiphan, it was not until Season 2's "The town of the city of jacksonville" that individuals learned the implications of people tests. Facing the threat that particular in the structures in this particular universe's NY will rapidly be ripped towards the alternate world, Walter unveils that Olivia had the power to discover which objects didn't belong here since they glimmered. After numerous not successful tests, Olivia finally regains the power with time to be able to save the regular people because office. But more to the stage, she begins to determine that Peter also provides the tell-tale glimmer, which, coincidentally, teed up another origin story!Exactly what are your faves?

9/11 vs. the Movies

Maybe it’s more like Extremely Loud and Incredibly Too Soon: “There is also the question of whether or not certain aspects of Sept. 11 — such as the people who leapt out the tower windows — should even be dealt with in a fiction film. ‘Should you show the jumpers or not?’ wonders Angus Kress Gillespie, who teaches a course on the history of Sept. 11 at Rutgers University. ‘It’s very controversial. It’s terrifying, it’s horrible, but it needs to be shown. This is not an abstraction that it was a horrible event; it was a horrible event.’” [LAT]

Lake Bell Compares the Best (and Worst) Options From L.A. Auto Show

The 2010 La Auto Show folded into downtown's L.A. Convention Center the other day, debuting the normal (and unusual) new suspects in the automobile industry. I'm particularly nostalgic of those occasions since they represent the foremost and many consistent recollections I have of connecting track of my motorhead father, Harvey Siegel.our editor recommendsLake Bell Test Drives the Fiat 500Lake Bell Test Drives the 2012 Bentley Continental GT PHOTOS: Lake Bell together with other Stars at GQ's Males of year Party As well as, since I've been attending auto shows since i have have will be a youthful girl, I believed it fitting to remain juvenile throughout my account in the visit. Let's tell the truth, the whole factor can be a recognition contest anyway, well, i harken to my childhood by passing judgment inside the purest form: Senior Superlatives -- Automotive Edition. STORY: La Auto Show Preview: Ford, Fiat, BMW, Mitsubishi For people people who've been sufficiently fortunate to get avoid this secondary school tradition, "Senior Superlatives" is all of the sweeping labels that some kid who's mind in the yearbook reaches assign to individuals in the senior class. If you're 17 years old, it's the stuff of bad dreams or nightmares -- unless of course obviously you're presented coveted title of all Vulnerable to Succeed. OK, why don't we get lower in it (so when you are scoring in your house, the show runs through November. 27): Finest FLIRT: 2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder I'm never confident that i'm tease while using R8 or possibly it's tease with me at night. Likely the first sort, since the R8 is simply a vehicle and should not convey complex feelings. Regardless, an appreciation affair has extended since ensued between me which naughty-searching V-10. Even though I miss the R8 coupe's signature side intakes, its sexy squinty vehicle car headlights as well as the 5.2L V-10 still makes me weak inside the knees. Finest WALLFLOWER : 2012 Coda Aw, poor Coda. What this means is well, but visually couldn't be less enticing. In the event you investigated "vehicle" inside the dictionary, it could picture a nondescript four-door vehicle. That's exactly what a Coda seems like. Part of the advantage of getting an electric vehicle is driving something that's full of Jetsons design -- otherwise you aren't getting credit in order to save the earth. Zero contaminants? Great! But zero charisma? I'd rather snag a Prius in a lower cost and acquire the whole extra credit. That Seems To Become COMPLETELY MEDIOCRE: 2012 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet I'm speaking about, why buy a Murano Vehicle to begin with, as well as a convertible version? A harsh question, to make certain, though an expense more than $40,000, how do i search for an objective with this particular cumbersome and somewhat unattractive vehicle? I have to CrossCabriolet this off my list because of there being almost no time for mediocrity if the requires the competitive arena of Sports utility automobiles. CLASS CLOWN: 2012 Nissan Juke Getting a title basically a vowel from like a "joke," the Juke is shateringly over-designed -- before you decide to tick el born area for your "Ensure It Is Yours" exterior personalization option. Sorry, Juke, I'd rather "ensure it is someone else's.In . But awesome your jets, Nissan fans: Japan's reaction to muscle vehicle, the GT-R, easily easily wiped the Juke smile off my face having its sticking out body and twin-turbocharged V-6 that produces 530 horsepower. Most likely TO Result In JAIL: 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 With 700 horsepower together with a V-12, without getting a run-together with regulations it's just embarrassing. Once I asked for a real estate agent of Lamborghini, "Who the hell can buy this mid-engine monsoon with nearly a $400,000 vehicle or truck?" he responded: "Mostly brain surgeons." I am unsure additionally terrifying: the fact it offers to 62 miles per hour by 50 %.9 seconds or even the world's best surgeons are joyriding in the vehicle that, due to their better judgment, they should not be driving whatsoever. BEST BODY: 2012 Aston Martin One-77 Good master this factor has more curves than Sofia Vergara in the push-up bra. MOST Memorable: BMW i8 Concept A few vegas drunk driving attorney can't appreciate this fully electric racecar out just in case your mind are must be) it seems like space and b) it's inside the new Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol trailer, which airs on tv every seven seconds. Indeed, the i8 does not appear easy to disregard. Its half-translucent spend is regarded as the exotic design I've ever noticed in an electric vehicle, that is really beginning production in 2014. When they visit you proud for connecting. (Sorry, Coda.) Most likely Being Leader: 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gull-Wing This regal coupe goes past other candidates within the class. I'd pass any bill written with this particular 563 horsepower roadster, except the total amount that is included with really purchasing it. But that's only because I'm a liberal and pay plenty of taxes. Filthiest MIND: 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 I would have grown to be somewhat pregnant from using this animal. With tuning from Dodge's Street and Racing Technology division enhancing the Challenger's already testosterone-oozing body for the tune of 470 horsepower and 470 pound-foot of torque, the Challenger makes me nervous in many the very best ways. Most likely To Be Successful: 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid No, I wasn't wooed to award Kia this honored title because its booth had an interactive computerized dancing gerbil in the windbreaker. However, that element did warm me around you should consider their stellar spontaneity, which introduced me being amazed with the Optima Hybrid. This fuel-efficient sedan is really affordable -- it starts at about $26,000 -- and extremely looks, dare I believe that, kind of awesome. Don't knock it 'til you are trying it. Kia should change its slogan to: "Kia. Who understood?" Related Subjects Lake Bell

Chinese box office surges

China's B.O. continues to storm ahead and is expected to top 13 billion yuan ($2.05 billion) this year, after exceeding $1.5 billion in 2010. But senior Chinese biz figures are fretting that domestic movies are not doing well enough to hold their own against fierce competish from Hollywood, despite quotas on overseas pics and various other hurdles facing foreign movies. "Avatar" made $210 million in China, while "Inception" did $69 million, and even though the studios' cut of takings in China is half what it is elsewhere in the world, the figures are appealing enough for Hollywood to take notice. This, combined with the spectacular growth outlook in China, is the reason why China is so hot at American Film Market this year. "The numbers are soaring, China has become hot and there is heat surging through the new market. Building movie theaters, making films, suddenly these are popular options for wealthy Chinese. However, 90% of domestic movies are losing money," Gao Jun, veep of the exhibition circuit New Film Association, told local media. All of the cinema chain operators are complaining about falling B.O. in recent months. Wanda in Guangzhou expected 14 million visitors during the National Day holiday, traditionally one of the busiest cinemagoing periods, but only sold 11 million tickets. The manager of the Guangzhou Jinyi cinema said that during the National Day holiday, the number of people watching movies was down 30%. This has been blamed on the less-than-stellar performances of local pics. Domestic big-budget pics like "Shaolin," "The Lost Bladesman" and "The Warring States" failed to match expectations at the box office. As in most markets in the world, they find it difficult to compete with tentpoles like "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," but even when there are no foreign competitors around, as in September this year, the domestic pics failed to ignite passions. The roughly 20 foreign pics that enter China each year on a revenue-sharing basis make up nearly half of total B.O., with 500 or so domestic movies competing for the rest. And a big percentage of the B.O. for those domestic movies came from Hong Kong co-productions. "Of last year's smaller movies, (Zhang Fanfan's horror pic) 'Lost in Panic Room' is always quoted as a good example of how a small investment can make big returns. The investment was four million yuan ($630,000), but the B.O is about 25 million yuan ($3.94 million), which is six times the investment. Everyone presenting an investment plan now uses it as an example," Wu Hehu, deputy chief manager of Shanghai's SFG United Circuit, which accounts for 10% of the Chinese cinema market, told Xinmin News. Between January and September this year, 630 new cinemas opened in China, which is seeing nearly two new cinemas every day, resulting in 2,563 new screens. It would appear that China is ripe for the plucking by domestic filmmakers, given the fact that there are so many restrictions on foreign movies coming in and so much effort goes in to boosting domestic product. "But the reality is less beautiful. With Zhang Zhiliang's 'Rest on your Shoulder,' investors put in more than 50 million yuan ($7.9 million), but it only took 15 million yuan ($2.4 million) or so at the box office," said Wu. Wu said that so many movies these days are financed by "day trippers," or laymen working outside the biz. Producer Yang Zi, who made "The Sorcerer and the White Snake," said the investors are there, but they are impatient. "To investors, this is not a gradual learning process, they want fast returns," said Yang. Also the funding structure remains opaque in the absence of adequate regulation of how the industry works. It's not just about the quality of the producers. The movies are also facing challenges from the censors. The country's most bankable helmer, Feng Xiaogang, constantly complains that making good work is difficult because of the restrictions imposed by the censorship system. Another major theme at AFM this year has been co-production, and perhaps this offers a way forward, combining local expertise at dealing with the regulatory hurdles and Hollywood's experience. Hopes are high in China that this combination can help keep B.O. buoyant in 2012 and make sure that those plush new seats in the scores of multiplexes in Chinese cities don't go empty. Educating future pros

The eDIT Filmmaker's Festival is not only aimed at industry professionals, but also seeks to educate and inspire new generations of moviemakers. To that end, the eDIT Academy has become an integral part of the festival. A platform for young filmmakers, it offers education and workshops focused on film and media. The eDIT Academy consists of four programs aimed, respectively, at kids ages 13-16; students 16-19; film school students; and graduates and amateur filmmakers. The program for the youngest film enthusiasts, held at Frankfurt's Staedel art museum, includes a course on classic painting and film with a look at the work of 20th century painter Max Beckmann.Festival director Rolf Kraemer says training in film and media for today's kids is more important than ever. "We are living in a media society but kids just get thrown out there and they must deal with it, and very often they're are not capable."Everybody wants to enter the film and media business but unless you get an internship somewhere you very rarely get a view of what it's really like, so we invite people from the regional industry to present what they're doing, what their job requires and what the working conditions are," says Kraemer.RELATED LINKS: Firing up the crafts Contact Ed Meza at ed.meza@mannaa.de

Or are they resting on their laurels from "Twilight" n making no effort? Jovovich went on to elaborate on her disapproval, writing "I think 'summit' hve swept '3 Musketeers', a grt family adventure film, under the rug in the US. Shame on them. SHAME ON YOU 'SUMMIT.'" Jovovich plays Milady de Winter aka Charlotte Backson, the film's female antagonist who uses her beauty and cunning against the Duke of Buckingham played by Orlando Bloom. The Twilight Saga may have brought the film studio name recognition, but it is also the U.S. distributor of The Hurt Locker, which earned six Oscars, among other notable films. In the case of The Three Musketeers, the studio is only its U.S. distributor, which is why it has attracted Jovovich's fury. Rihanna Says Shes Happy For Chris Browns Success

First Published: October 11, 2011 9:34 AM EDT Credit: Esquire NY, N.Y. -- Caption Rihanna appears on the November 2011 cover of EsquireRihanna says she resented Chris Brown for a time, but has put that behind her and is happy that her former boyfriend has found success in music again. Rihanna tells Esquire magazine that disliking Brown was taking up too much of my time and that she has moved on from that. It was too much anger, the 23-year-old said. Im really excited to see the breakthrough hes had in his career. Brown, 21, is serving five years of probation after pleading guilty to felony assault for the attack on Rihanna in the early morning hours before the 2009 Grammys. Graffiti, the album he released 10 months after the attack, was a commercial disappointment. But his latest release, F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies), debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in March; it reached gold status and has multiple pop and R&B hits with songs like Look at Me Now and Deuces, among other tracks. Its incredible to see how he pulled out the way he did. Even when the world seemed like it was against him, you know? Rihanna said. I really like the music hes putting out. Im a fan of his stuff. Ive always been a fan. Rihanna has done well musically, too: Her albums following the attack Rated R and Loud have both gone platinum, and shes releasing a new album, Talk That Talk, next month. Her latest single, We Found Love, is her 20th song to hit the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart since she debuted in 2005. Overall, she says she wants to see Brown do well. I would never wish anything horrible for him. Never. I never have, she said. The November issue of Esquire magazine hits newsstands on Oct. 16. (Copyright 2011 by Associated Press. Thomas Gibson how 2 . 5 Males Drawn Off a Dharma & Greg Reunion

Jenna Elfman and Thomas Gibson The greatest surprise of Monday night's large 2 . 5 Males season premiere might have been the unpredicted appearance of Dharma & Greg stars Jenna Elfman and Thomas Gibson. While a lot of the episode's secrets had already leaked - in the dying of Charlie Harper towards the funeral appearance of his old female friends - the show handled to help keep the cameos by Elfman and Gibson an entire secret. Works out like Elfman and Gibson were not really in the tape of 2 . 5 Men's season opener. Rather, they shot their cameo days later, and did not get it done before a studio audience. The clip of Elfman and Gibson was later proven to a different audience to be able to record their reaction and laughter - which crowd, which signed a non-disclosure agreement, handled to help keep it quiet. "Nobody appeared to place it available, that was type of nice," Gibson states. 2 . 5 Males executive producer Chuck Lorre seemed to be the creator behind Dharma & Greg, which went on ABC from 1997 to 2002. (Trivia note: It is the first show to feature Lorre's now-famous weekly vanity card messages.) Gibson, who's already an organization CBS player (because the star from the network's lengthy-running drama Criminal Minds), was immediately game towards the idea. "I acquired a phone call and Chuck desired to possess some surprises making a really large splash for that first episode," Gibson states. "I believed it was a very funny idea." This is exactly why, nine years after Dharma & Greg discontinued the environment, Elfman and Gibson - bickering just like a couple which has now been married fifteen years - were one of the guest stars turning up to have a look in the Malibu beach house formerly occupied by Charlie, and today available on the market. John Stamos was another cameo. One hiccup: Dharma & Greg was created by twentieth century Fox TV, while 2 . 5 Males is really a Warner Bros. Television show. Lorre did not secure permission to make use of the figures, but technically he did not have to: Elfman and Gibson never known to one another as "Dharma" or "Greg", plus they were simply charged as special guest looks, without actual character names. "I'm not sure whether it was Dharma and Greg," Gibson states having a wink. "It might have been another couple." But even casual Dharma & Greg audiences most likely acquired around the similar character types. Elfman, for instance, walked lower the steps marveling concerning the home's "feng shui." Then your two start squabbling, Gibson indicates the divorce, and Elfman offers to "take both you and your uptight bourgeois family for everything you have.Inch (Should you recall, the conflict between Dharma's hippy character and Greg's uptight family provided the setting for that show.) So might be Dharma and Greg around the outs? "They actually appear to become getting some issues," Gibson states. "Let me think situations are still OK together, despite the fact that they may have been each and every others' throats there." Gibson states the scene required around an hour to shoot, which he'd an opportunity to meet up with Elfman. "I had not seen her shortly,Inch he states. A lot of the 2 . 5 Males crew once done Dharma & Greg, which designed for another kind of homecoming, he adds. "To find the opportunity to meet up again, for just an hour or so approximately, was awesome. It had been a household reunion along with a great experience for all of us.Inch It has been a great week for Gibson. Besides showing up within the top-ranked 2 . 5 Males episode, Criminal Minds came back because of its seventh season having a roar. The show averaged a powerful 14.a million audiences along with a 4.1 rating within the grown ups 18-49 demographic - a sensational accomplishment for any show so late in the run. "Never underestimate the American public's taste for gore and mayhem and serial murders," quips Gibson. However the star also credited the return of stars Paget Brewster along with a.T. Prepare along with a "new infusion of one'sInch on the program. "It feels as though what we have done to date this year is the best stuff we have ever done," he states. Obviously, following his 2 . 5 Males gig, Gibson confesses he might have been bitten again through the comedy bug. "You cannot substitute the action of making people laugh," he states. "It's certainly something which stars enjoy.Inch Sign up for TV Guide Magazine now!

Dancing With The Stars Boots First Celeb From The Ballroom

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Dancing with the Stars most controversial season has one less celebrity contender competing for mirrorball glory. WARNING: Major spoilers ahead! On Tuesday, NBA star Metta World Peace (formerly Ron Artest), said peace out to the ballroom, taking newcomer to the celebrity competition, professional partner Peta Mergatroyd, out of the game as well. I had a great, great time [It was] awesome, Metta said after learning the news. Metta and Petas dance a cha cha wasnt a hit with the judges on Monday night, although Carrie Anne Inaba did give the Laker points for his style. Now we know who the wild one is gonna be. Youre sort of eccentric, and yet, kind of sexy. It works, she said. Cha chas a sexy dance, and I thought that worked, but it was kind of wrong for all the technical reasons, she added. The elimination news came as a relief to Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus, and Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke, who were also left until the end of the show to find out they were actually safe. Although his sprightly cha cha helped Chaz Bono make it through to another week with partner Lacey Schwimmer, the activist admitted to co-host Tom Bergeron earlier in the evening that performing last on Monday night created additional pressure. It was hard to watch everybody go and I was rooting for everybody, but in the back of my mind was still, Oh my God! I still have to go do this. So it was nerve wracking, he said. Italian model and television presenter Elisabetta Canalis and partner Val Chmerkovskiy who many thought might be in danger of elimination were surprised to learn they would be back another week after they landed near the bottom of the leaderboard on Monday evening. Their cha cha didnt please the judges, especially Len Goodman, who hated the groups use of a prop a bed in the ballroom. It was just wishful thinking that I tried to portray on the show, Val said on Tuesdays show, reflecting on using the device. I try to get everything out of the way in the first episode. I just wanted to take my shirt off and be in bed, he added. Next week with the quickstep things will be tough on the underdog pair, as it was revealed on Tuesday night that Elisabetta was born with an injury to her shoulder, making being spun out by her partner, extremely painful.
