Can you hook up a dj mixer to a television using av cables if no proper audio system is available?

I am thinking of purchasing a pair of turntables and a mixer in about
a month. I dont have a proper audio set up to support it yet, but i
have noticed looking at the mixer the connectors are similar to ones
on a tv. So before i make my purchase i want to know if i can use the
red and white jacks on av cords to hook it up to a television. yes i
am aware of the drawbacks of this setup
